Independently Wealthy, Day 1
So the independently wealthy idea is going well. We definitely lived the lifestyle today as people waited on us hand and foot at the mall.
Is there anything better than the scalp massage the stylist gives you before she washes your hair? I'd had these massages when we were just regular people, but they didn't feel nearly as good. My jaw went slack and my eyes rolled back in my head, and it was all I could do to catch the little drop of drool that slid down my chin before it hit my salon smock.
After the new 'do, a little shopping was in order. Remember the scene in Pretty Woman where Richard Gere and Julia Roberts are shopping on Rodeo Drive? Yeah, that was pretty much J.P. and me today. Sales people bringing me stuff to try on, J.P. encouraging them to suck up to me. They even ordered pizza for us. Yep, those Casual Corner clerks really know how to make a girl feel special.
Our day wouldn't have been complete without dinner, of course. We literally had the entire restaurant to ourselves as we dined and soaked up the ambience of the 27 televisions scattered around the room. Champps—where the second 'p' in the name is a sign of distinction.
Believe it or not, you too can be pampered like this—even if you don't have the resources that we're pretending to have. Just plan your mall visit for a beautiful Monday afternoon in the spring, and the lack of other patrons will ensure that all attention is on you.
