There's something about a holiday
What is it about a holiday weekend that makes it so relaxing? An extra day off, of course! And so much the better if that day happens to fall on Monday, because that means the short workweek comes AFTER the holiday. Bonus!
After run, run, running last weekend, J.P. and I were quite content to have a nice weekend (mostly) at home. I cleaned the bathroom (yes, that's a blog-worthy event in Sharkeyville), J.P. tilled the garden. We did laundry and walked the dog.
Saturday night we saw X-Men: The Last Stand. It definitely wasn't my first choice in movies, but J.P. and our friends wanted to see it. J.P. didn't like it because it didn't follow the same story line as the comic books. Since I haven't read any of the comic books, that fact didn't bother me and I enjoyed the movie.
Thanks to John's Weekend Words Challenge assignment, we went to Valley Forge on Sunday evening. It was a beautiful time to be there, as the sun was starting to go down. We saw a lot of deer, and Maggie had a great time running around on her long leash. And most importantly, we took some time to remember the reason for the holiday.
As you might have guessed from the picture, we had a barbecue on the deck last night. Two sets of neighbors were here, and we sweated it out until the sun went down and things cooled off. Baby gates ensured that the one-year-old and the pooch stayed where they belonged, and a good time was had by all.
How'd you spend your weekend?
