My Namesake

It seems that nearly every blog I read has at last one post titled "Leaving on a Jet Plane." Well, we aim to be more original than that around here; hence today's title. J.P. and I are headed to the airport this afternoon, and if Katrina is kind to us we'll be in Minneapolis tonight.

For the State Fair! Where we'll eat and walk and eat and sweat and tour the animal barns and eat and walk our butts off and eat some more. With about 100,000 other people. I can't wait.

Oh, and we're going to see family too. The picture above is my namesake niece, Lauren Sharkey. Her dad's the one who gave me this nickname, so it's fitting that she has it too. She turned two in April, and she's been talking about seeing us "cutie pies" (as she called us) for the last few days. We're looking forward to seeing her, her siblings and her parents, my parents, and my grandparents. Throw in a friend or two here and there, and it's what we call the whirlwind tour.

Not sure how often I'll be able to post while I'm gone, but I'll be taking lots of pictures. Of butterheads and cheese curds and spaghetti and meatballs on a stick. Yum!
